Stornoway

It was a light day of cycling to-day - about 30 KM.The first hour however involved a strong head and crosswind and rain. Then we turned left across a short cut route to Stornoway with a following wind and some great views of Scottish Hills. One nearby was called Brinn Nan Surrag. A single track road with many peat harvesting sites and Crofters cabins. It was a memorable ride inspite of light rain.

We arrived at Lews Castle (originally built with opium trade wealth) at about 11.45. It has fairly recently been renovated. It had a modern cafeteria where we had a cup of soup for lunch. We then found our B&B but officially we were not allowed in till 4 pm so we explored the two hotels to choose one for dinner. However we were allowed into the B&B at 3.15.
