Vatersay and Barra islands

We had a baptism of Scottish weather this morning. Heading south across a causeway to the island of Vatersay it was raining hard and at times there was a strong headwind. However then we headed north around the west side of Barra island. By noon the rain had stopped and we had more of a following wind. We caught a forty five minute ferry to South Uist. Along the way we saw many sheep of different varieties - black, white and mixed. The single lane road with frequent passing points is fun to ride on. Motorists seem very considerate of cyclists. We stopped for a bowl of soup for lunch and arrived at our B&B "Lochside cottage" in Boisdale at about 2.30. A successful first day   of about 30 KM.
